Tuesday Travel - Devil's Tower National Park, Wyoming


We spent the night in Sturgis Wyoming- yes, even without a motorcycle!  I had been struggling with trying to figure out what we would see and what we would have to skip in the Black Hills: scenic drives, wild life drives, caves, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse... so that we could end up the day in Cody and be ready for Yellowstone on Wednesday.  Ends up- we skipped them all.  I just couldn't face driving back East - even a short trip - even to see Mt. Rushmore.  (Though in all honesty, Mr Rushmore - was a much higher priority for Kevin than it was for me.  YES. I know I wrote Mr.  I did that ALL THREE TIMES that I've typed the name in this blog.  I finally admitted defeat and let it stand.)

Devil's Tower, however, was one of our big ticket items.  After all, we had made a special effort to obtain and watch "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" before our trip!

Musings on Lost Mothers

I've got a new boyfriend.  Landon.  He's going into the 5th grade next year.  I'm not sure if I'm cheating on my husband or my son. We meet at the pool.  As soon as I arrives, he's beside me asking "Do you want to dive off the board with me?" Absolutely, Landon.  Absolutely.   Zupe stopped playing with me 2 years ago.  If I swim up to him, he points me to the nearest ladder.  But, Landon... "Want to do a cannonball this time?"   "Let's run up to the edge and dive in!" And, he's so charming.  "How old ARE YOU?"  "Did you sleep OK last night? You look tired." Once again, I'm having fun and in demand!
