Monday - Summer on Harrison has returned.

My morning glories are volunteers this summer.  Last year I planted them.  The year before, too.  They never amounted to much - but this year.  OMG.  They flourish! They trail over all the trellises, the forgotten day lily flower stalks, the weeds, the ground.  And, of course, into the fence row.  Most are dark, dark purple - called something like Grandpa Ott.  I should look that up*.  But, also, some of these light blue beauties. *I did.  That's it!

Yes, that's right.  You recognized him.  This is the start of geranium I showed you a couple months ago.  It has grown to a number of leaves beyond counting AND is prepared to start blooming.  Well done! Not much of a photo- but I'm running behind.

Thursday: Summer on Harrison

Saturday night, you will recall, was the 4th of July.  I watched a couple - ok, 3 - episodes of The Bear and went to bed just before 10.  That's when they started.  Folks all around town started shooting off fireworks.  Boom.  Boom.  POP POP POP.  After listening while lying in bed for a bit, I got up to look out my window.  Wow! Firebursts of red flowers.  Quick grab the camera.  Here's the shot! The booms.  The pop pop pops continued but nothing overcame the tree line again.  Just ominous glowing behind the landscape.  (You can see that on my camera's live function images - those mini videos.  But I haven't figured out how/if I can post them.) Happy Independence Day from and to Versailles.

Granted, this doesn't look like much.... but only a few short weeks ago, it was just a single blossum with one leaf that broke off one of my new geranium plants.  I felt terrible that I had been so clumsy to have broken off a branch from a plant that had few to start with - so I stuck it in water to enjoy the flower in my kitchen window.  I was surprised by how long the bloom looked healthy...and then it grew roots.  Now!  Look!  4 new leaves!!  (When I planted it in the pot, after the blossom had faded, it had only the same one leaf.)  Celebrating my success.  Hit me up for any starts.  I am feeling successful.
